Re: Crysis

Hi

I am having a similar problem. I seem to only beeing able to play with everything set to 'high'; AA off, and everything set to 'medium'; AA 8x. I use resolution 1600x1050 at my Samsung 226BW.

Even in 'High', it is a bit laggy.

My computer setup is:
E8500 unclocked
4GB RAM
Radeon HD4870
(Asus PQ5-Deluxe)

I thought I would be able to run everything quite smooth in 'Very High', as I was able to play Far Cry 2 without problems in 'Very High' and full AA.
I even tried lowering the resolution to 1440x900 (or something like that), but there was stilli som lag, far from as smooth as it is in 'medium'.

The only thing I have left to blame is my OS, which is Vista Ultimate x64.
So, do anyone of you have any idea of what might be causing this?

Thanks,
vancer

Re: Crysis

I gotta tell you all I played Crysis on my pc all with the high specs on and it ran like a dream, graphics, textures, resolution, everything you could wish for in a game. I have finished the game now. I have since played Crysis Warhead and have to say that also ran like a dream. I guess I must be one of the lucky ones.

I'm going to have trouble finding the next game to play that can beat Crysis.

Some of us are hating you at this moment Nik2209... at least, I know I am!

Crysis and Warhead were fun games, couldn't played them maxed out, couple of things I would change but what the heck, none of the other FPS come close to it anyways.

Re: Crysis

Is there a way to benchmark Crysis & Warhead easily? Also, what drivers were you nvidia users running when you played the bulk of crysis? The most recent ones that came out for Farcry 2 seemed to make a HUGE difference for me. I went from having to run Warhead on a mix of medium/high settings back to how I played the original crysis on Very High. Im not sure what they changed but I'm loving it. Its so hard to say that other games look good after being so spoiled by the effects and detail of Crysis. Damn you Crytek and your beautiful engine, even if poorly optimized I'd still love every game to be as easy on the eyes.

By the way, am I the only person that does not find Farcry 2 to be a good looking game at all? In all honesty I think it looks downright awful and I have it in 1680x1050 Ultra settings and 2xAA. Maybe its just me...

Re: Crysis

I find Farcry 2 looks nice even though I play it at very high settings with 2xAA as playing any game under 30fps isn't fun. Messed around with the brightness/contrast to give stuff a more defined look, but I liked it. Probably the only good DX10 game that runs flawlessly.

Re: Crysis

Starting from the fact that I thouroughly enjoyed Far Cry 1, THAT played it multiple times, even as recent as 1 yr ago (testing it on my then New rig), I was totally down with UBI Montreal and the fiasco we all now know as FC2.

Everything about this game is child's play, there is nothing mature about it at all. They claimed it was going to be tactical and it isn't, they claimed it was going to be a huge open world and as soon as you get off the path indicated by them, you get Malaria and die (unless you get those Miracle Pills that you won't get until your 2nd mission.

The game is the worst optimized console port I have played yet, worse than Vegas 1 and that was a complete sham. I don't want to get off on a rant here so I'll let it go and just say... IT WAS A BIG DISSAPOINMENT!

I agree. The gameplay was VERY lackluster. Did anyone actually play all the way through? I played the first like hour on release day. Everlong did you get the latest drivers they released specifically for Farcry 2. They're beta so I dunno if you're comfortable installing them but I got about a 30% increase with them. Perhaps thats why you had to lower your graphics setting so much?

The driver 180 really helps. Thanks for the head up. I set Farcry 2 on 4xAA without lags which provides unbelievable clean graphic and game play. I believe it help the graphic cards to work easier as I have notice they ran cooler. I'll try to see if it will help on Crysis when I got time.

Re: Crysis

I downloaded the 180.48 drivers today and they gave me about 5-8 extra FPS in Crysis & Stalker both.

I am running Crysis in "Ultra High Quality" with all settings set at "Custom" by the mod, everything maxed except for AA which is 0 and at a 1600x1200 res. I am getting about 28-32FPS average in most areas.

I must be one of the "lucky ones" also because Crysis runs very good for me with all options except AA maxed in 1600x1200 on a 21" monitor and I don't have anything special at all just a basic Q6600 & 8800GT both very slightly overclocked & 8GBs ram (which I think might be making some of the difference)
Crysis likes quad cores and lots of ram I think.

also these new 180.48 drivers gave me several FPS.
