    Halo 2 Problems

Well, i've installed Halo 2 fine and everything, but when i play ingame for around 5-15 minutes, it'll randomly freeze, then turn my screen off, the only solution is to restart my computer
I also get a Blue Screen of death sometimes.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Computer specs:

    Intel Quad Core 2.66Ghz Q6600
    4GB Ram
    GeForce 8600GT

Does this only happen in Halo 2? Does your computer have enough ventilation so as to not overheat? Have you overclocked your system? What does your BSOD say?

Only happens in Halo 2, it's not overheating. I'll see what the BSOD says. And i've never overclocked my PC.

Hi, Baaax, and welcome to the forums.

Which motherboard are you using, and have you tried removing 2 GB of RAM and seeing if it made a difference? Having all four memory slots populated puts an incredible strain on the Northbridge, and if it is not adequately cooled, even when not overclocked, it can still get blazing hot.

    Thanks for the welcome.

I'm using a Gigabyte S-Series Mother board, i just tried it with 2 GB of ram, doesn't seem to make a diffrence.

Is your DirectX updated to the latest version? Are all your drivers up to the latest version? Are you using a WHQL driver for your video card or a modded one?

And whenever you get a chance at posting the BSOD, that'd be great.

    Re: Halo 2 Problems

It could be a RAM issue, a bad sector issue on your HD, a simple application error, or it could even be something a lot harder to trace. That BSOD error is going to be the critical key right now.

Ok, the only thing i could read on the BSOD before it flashed of and restarted was

" A problem has been detected, attempting to restart"

And i hope it's not a bad sectre on my HD, this computer is only around 2 months old.

    Hey Bax,

There should be a window after you restart with details about the BSOD, it displays "Windows has recovered from a disruptive shutdown" and that box has the BSOD information, otherwise just turn off "automatic restart on failure" so it displays the error code

Nope, no detail box telling me the BSOD Info, how would i go about turning off automatic restart on failure?
