To much memory?

Heey,
When I try to play HalfLife 1 of 2, the program says that I haven't got enough memory.
-> -0,00K
Now the problem is, I've got 6Gigs of memory, so that mustn't be the problem right?

I think that the program doesn't work with so much memory.

Is there a solution for this??

Thanks

Dave

Re: To much memory?

There's got to be something else going on. Half Life doesn't use much memory to begin with. What's the exact error message?

Re: To much memory?

Error msg:
Your system reported only -0,00K of physical memory, Half-Life requires at least 16 Mb.

(That's for HalfLife 1)

Engine Error
Available memory less than 128 Mb -1

(That's for HalfLife 2)

Re: To much memory?

What else do you have running? Do you get the same message after a reboot or only after the machine has been running a while? Perhaps some other program you're running has a memory leak? Open the task manager's performance page and at the bottom look at 'physical memory'; how much are you using without playing the game?

Re: To much memory?

I know enough about the monitoring of a computer,
But it seems that the HalfLife engines do not work with 2gig mem or more.

I'm getting this message al the time when I try to start the game.

They do work with more than 2GB of memory, I have played these games on systems with 8GB of memory perfectly fine...

Your using Steam right?
Paste this command into the address bar of Internet Explorer or Firefox and press Enter to run the system analysis tests, then paste the output here

Code:
steam://support/?Issues=*

^ Second that. I play HL2 with 4GB just fine. There's got to be something else going on.

Re: To much memory?

Your problem isn't with memory, the problem is that Half-Life and Half-Life 2 are 32 bit programs so they won't register any memory above 4GB, in fact they will roll over causing them to register with 0Kb. What you need to do is find a 64 bit patch for them, that is if they make them. I know they came out with a 64 bit version of Half-Life 2.
