world of warcraft help

I did a clean install on my new pc and its all patched up...and used the repair utility (it says wow is okay)
everytime it loads i get my character up on the screen and everything looks fine...looks like imabout to start playing and then it just freezes and locks up...i have to reboot manually the whole computer...

my computer more than meets the requirements...im lost on this...
im trying to update all my drivers...
but my graphics card and vista are updated...(which i would think are the most important)

i have a asus m3a mb....amd phenom x4 9950 black edition...8gb 800speed memory..and a sata2 hdd
can sumbody help me out???

i thought it was bcuz vista and being 64 bit...but now im starting to think its the memory...maybe the memory installed on my computer isnt compatible with the mb???

any help would be much appreciated...
is anyone else on here playing wow? with a vista ult 64bit?

Re: world of warcraft help

UM....specs....I have Windows Ultimate 64bit SP1
AMD 9950 quad core processor
8.0 gb ram
Nvidia Geforce 8500gt
onboard 6ch sound

I dont know if this ram is compatible with my motherboard but it came with the computer when i bought it...I think they are DDR2-800 PC6400 ?? I think thats what i wrote down when i pulled one out...

So far every game Ive loaded crashes on me....command and conquer i got working by troubleshooting it for 3 days on "vista ready games forums"

Now i cant get world of warcraft to run...It loads my character up in the game and everything seems fine then when i start running or open a window (in-game) it locks up and freezes...the only way to get my computer running again is to press the reset button on the case....i cant get back to windows or anything...and when i reboot the pc i dnt get any error messages....(im sure theyre stored somewhere but idk where)

I tried updating my drivers through the device manager in windows...i clicked on each individual one and let windows search for driver updates online...is this update thru the device manager reliable? I mean does it actually find any updates? does it work?

I messed my pc up trying to update drivers...so i had to do a system restore...my system restore took off "driver detective" so thats a plus right? lol

please reply back i appreciate the help

Re: world of warcraft help

okay i did the memory test....it said it was complete and i can hit escape at 9 and a half hours...
it got to test #8 no errors at all...
i left all my sticks in (4 2gb sticks)
so that seems to be okay...except for it taking forever?? i went to sleep waiting on it lol...

im running vist64 ultimate and world of warcraft w/o a problem. what other games do you have problems on?

you might try to run w/ 4gb in instead of 8gb. i had a similar problem recently w/ an asus m3a32 mob. the problem i had ended up being that i didnt get enuff juice to the ram. i had crank up the voltage a bit to get all 4gb to work. ill try and find the article i used, but im at work right now, so itll probably be later on. i didnt know i had a problem w/ my ram until i began trying to run a game, and of course the ram check came back fine. if that solves the problem, consult the ram manufacturer to see if some of the bios settings need to be changed.

the only other thing i can think of is possible conflict with software. what security software do you have on it?

Re: world of warcraft help

Has WoW got access on the firewall? When I re-install Windows and launch something like Star Wars Galaxies, it will finish loading and just before I can start playing, it freezes because the firewall prompt pops up, but I can't minmize or alt tab out for some reason, so I have to either leave the game minmized while it loads, so I can see the firewall prompt, or set it manually.

Re: world of warcraft help

Turns out my m3a motherboard wasnt compatible with my amd 9950 phenom processor...the processor required/used 144 watts and the mb is cabable of handling 125...
my builder is fixing the problem by installing a diff mb and will be sending it to me in a couple weeks...
then i will see if WOW plays correctly
