Vista - Far Cry 2 problems

Hello there, i'v got a problem regarding Far Cry 2

When i put the cd in the reader, it works fine, autostart comes up, and well, thats when the problems start. When i press " Install " nothing happens and the launcher closes, and then thats it.

I tried to get a friend of mine to try and install it (He's on windows XP) and he had no problems. Then i got his installed game from his computer and tried to run it on mine, worked fine, untill.

I went to options, and wanted to try the direct x 10 graphics, so i enabled it, and it wanted me to restart the game for the changes to take effect.

But then i couldent start the game anymore, it just showed the launcher, and then it said that the game had stopped working, and that i can search for a solution to the problem online, or close the program.

I was a bit annoyed at this. so i toyed around and actually got it to work, by using windows XP compatability mode. However, in compatability mode, i could not choose to use direct X 10, wich whas what i really wanted to try, since i'm new to vista.

Oh also, i needed to get some .dll files before i got it to work, dont know why, but probably because i got it off my friends computer.

the names of those was:
D3DX9_38.dll
and
xinput1_3.dll

and the error information i got after the crash is this: (yes it's swedish, but the actual numbers/letters in the info should be correct)
