Re: Gaming BSOD NEed urgent help!

rdc1337, welcome to the forums. The first thing is... breath, read and try to answer all the question posted here. The folks at Vistax64 are very nice and they are here to help.

I am no PC guru but I do like to help to learn more so... here we go:

I was able to find this on Google:

Quote:
The most common causes of a STOP 0x7F are:
  • Low-level hardware corruption, such as corrupt memory (RAM)
  • Mismatched memory modules
  • A malfunctioning motherboar
In another link, I found this:

Quote:
You may also receive this error message if one or more of the following conditions are true:
  • The hard disk is faulty.
  • The hard disk cabling is faulty, or the hard disk cabling is not connected correctly.
  • The computer is infected with a boot sector virus.
  • The computer BIOS or the disk controller firmware are incompatible with Windows Vista.
  • Another program is using the master boot record.
How old is your HP? When did you buy it.

Does it happen at the beginning of play or during a long session (say 30 mins)?

Have you (or anybody else) installed any new software or hardware?

When was the last time you install drivers for your sound and video card?

The more questions you answer the better we're going to be able to help you. Even if you don't know the answer, respond to it with a "I don't know", this way we'll know what to do or where to proceed from here.

Re: Gaming BSOD NEed urgent help!

My HP is around about 2 years old
around 2007 i bought it.
The BSOD occurs around 15-30mins after it starts to load.
I can play the game in i ts lowest settings in Window mode in a low resolution fine but when its full screen it triggers the BSOD.
Nobody installs any new hardware in this computer.

and No i have not installed any sound or graphic drivers due to the error that windows updates dont work so this now makes 2 PROBLEMS.. its beeen a while since ive had a update. the error code is 80244109 for the update.

when i try to manually download a patch my internet cannot coonect to the site.

thanx for ur help.

Re: Gaming BSOD NEed urgent help!

Hello rdc1337, welcome.

First off, your particular problem is caused by a double fault. This is either caused by a hardware problem, or a kernel stack overflow.

Since no one has added any hardware to your PC recently, it is most likely bad RAM. Looking at your specs, I see a major problem already. 1 gig of RAM is not enough to run vista well. You need 2 gigs min. You seem to run it ok for now, but definately run MEMTEST+86 and the Vista memcheck.

Run those RAM tests, and I bet your RAM is bad. If that is the case, it is easy and cheap to replace. Let us know how it turns out.

Re: Gaming BSOD NEed urgent help!

Try it from here...

Download Memtest86, Memtest86 3.4 Download

If your Firefox can't connect it could be because you have Adblock or Noscript installed as add-ons or plugins.
