Vista - AOE III Issue

So I read (or tried to) all of the other threads on this and I cannot find anything closely related. I can install, and run (almost) AOE III successfully. The problem that I have is that it will not save my settings, neither game option settings nor any video settings. Also, when I play the compaign it will not continue past the first mission, it goes to a blank screen. My suspicion is that it cannot write to some location under "My Documents" that existed under Windows XP. I installed to a location called "C:\Games". I already tried the defaults. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Try running it in compatibility mode for WinXP. Post results.
