Re: Hey all, new member here... into gaming

smokkinu, if it is not to much to ask, can you tell me what Mobo you have and have much you paid for either you CPU & Mobo as well?

I am about to pull the pin on a DDR2 Mobo/CPU/RAM combo and I want to see how far away I really am from a DDR3 one.

Thanks

I went with the P6T Deluxe from ASUS. I compared it to the Rampage and went with this instead very happy with it, and the expressgate is very cool too!

CPU was $259
MB was $199 but i got discounts on those....

I would go with the i7 and P6T and DDR3... get the 920, cause you can OC it and get the same speed as the 965 extreme i7 and still be very stable.

SMOKKINU,

Are you using the stock cooler to OC your CPU to that level or something different. What kind of temps do you get.

Re: Hey all, new member here... into gaming

What PC case do you have? I am getting a Thermaltake Spedo Advance case and if I have some money left, I would love to get the V-8 for some Eye-Candy effect but I don't know if it will fit or not as the thing looks so HUGE.

Also, can you tell me how much you paid for the 6GB Crucial RAM and what speed is it? Again, I am still in the market and I want to compare your Mobo/CPU/RAM combo prices(even if you got them at a discount) with the one I am thinking on buying

On the other side fo the token, how would you compare your combo (Mobo/CPU/RAM) with the one I plan on Purchasing?

DDR2 Combo's

Asus Formula II
Q9550
4GB Corsair Dominator 1066Mhz

or

EVGA 780i SLI FTW
Q9550
4GB Corsair Dominator 1066Mhz

Re: Hey all, new member here... into gaming

I had a kick a$$ deal on the TT Spedo Advance and this is why I went for it, otherwise, the Antec 900 or CM HAF932 were going to be my choice.

I doubt I'm going to have money left over since the Quads are so incredible priced at the moment... hopefully later on I can buy the V-8 and get some of that Eye-Candy

The store i bought everything from did not have any 295's on the shelf, and the 285's i got for $650 for both (Major discount, my co does alot of business with them) I basically built my system for a lil less then $2000 complete with monitor (24 inch LCD from ASUS)
Sorry if I was insulting, I just wasn't sure what you wanted as you had no question.

BTW Welcome to Vistax64.

Sucks that there were no 295's cause it is completely worth it, if you can afford them. $650 (assuming USD) is amazing! Wish I could get them for the same price.
