Do you prefer gaming on console or PC?

Is the PC just a hard, cold calculating machine? Or is it an extension of graphically mind boggling realism as you digitally interact with friends on you favorite new game?

Is the console your platform of choice?

Only when it's better than my PC.

Or is it the PC?

Currently my PC is better than my console, so yep - PC.

I have both and use both, but I've always preferred PC.

I'm also too lazy to post pics atm ;)

Being old school, I have a little trouble setting up the console controllers to my liking, some of the games come with preset keys so you either play how they decide is best or you don't... I usually don't ;)

Racing sims are better on consoles though, at least, I think so because I either don't have or want to spend money on a PC steering wheel or they never work like they are supposed to.

I only play shooters and they seem to be better on pc, even though, as of late we are only getting poor console ports when it comes to good tactical and or close to real shooters... I did enjoy FEAR 2 a lot though but it is one of the few console ports that are really optimize for the pc.

+1 on the picture thing

I prefer the PC because modding games can be accomplished with the PC. Console you are kind of stuck with what you have. However as a poster commented, console is less expensive and I would have to say the 3D is quite good on the Xbox and Sony Playstation 3. It is unfortunate that a lot of developers are moving toward console games because they sell like hot cakes on Sunday morning. They have trade in value at some gaming stores. Some games just lean towards being a console game. You know, Super Mario Bros, Sonic the Hedge Hog, etc. Other games such as Silent Hunter 4 Wolves of the Pacific need to be PC so the game can be modded. Trust me, it is modded quite a bit to the point it is an entirely different game than stock. I have played it continuously for over 2 years. Silent Hunter 3 has been played by thousand since release in 2005 because of the modibility of the game files. But hey, I have my PC, Wii and Playstation II....I get to mess with all of them.

That can also be a bad thing... ;)

With certain PC games I find I spend more time in the console and config files and looking for mods than I do playing them :)

With the console, you just play the game as they were meant to be played. You have no choice. Which can sometimes also be a bad thing :p

Another advantage to consoles is that the games rarely crash. Compared to PC's anyway

Either way, it's good to have the choice :)

Five years ago I would have said PC. Now with a lot of console games being nearly identical to their PC counterparts and the online services the consoles offer it's much easier and just as much fun (if not more) than PC. Don't get me wrong. I still enjoy PC games, but sometimes it's the hassle. I know my console isn't going to have any problems running a game. With my computer it's a different story even though I have a pretty damn good rig, you know? My only gripe about console gaming compared to PC gaming would have to be the controls. The Dualshock and the 360 controller are pretty damn good examples of how controllers should be made IMO but nothing quite feels as nice as a mouse/keyboard combo.

Right now I am gaming on Xbox 360. My second one at that!

But I am kicking around the idea of a new PC build with tax return money.... but not sure yet. Even if I do I doubt I would switch over to hardcore PC gamer again. Like others have stated before, most games on PC I can have on 360, and with LIVE it is nice.

Now we consolers do miss out on a few good ones but not many.

I have had consoles in the past, I prefer gaming on the PC, the graphics are better and the sound is also better IMO.
You can also do alot more on a PC, why buy a console if you own a PC, save the money you would have spent on a console and buy some decient PC games or upgrades.

I would have to go for PC as my preferred choice.

I have never owned and probably never will own any console of any kind.
I've played on them many times at friends but I've always found the low/blurry resolution of the TV screens to hurt my eyes and the controllers just never felt 'right' to me with the single exception of KIRBY fun pack on the SNES.

The facts are that the PC has always been a machine capable of ANYTHING you want.
It used to be consoles couldn't save games, only on memory cards.. pcs could internally. and then they came and gave consoles a hd
It used to be console games couldn't be patched.. pc games could.
It used to be consoles couldn't go online.. pcs could. And now consoles can..
It used to be you couldn't play online on consoles.. and on pcs you could.

Is it just me or are consoles just becoming more and more like what the PC has ALWAYS been? hmm hmm?:geek:
This leads me to believe that the ultimate gaming console would be... yes you guessed right!, A PERSONAL COMPUTER! *gasp*

Granted PC's tend to be higher maintenance than consoles and on a console if you buy a game for it you KNOW it'll play to its max potential.. and on pcs its always a question of compatability and if it does work you have to fine-tune the settings for optimal graphics/performance tradeoff.
I can understand a lot of people consider this a turn-off and go the console way because of this but I personally love it. It makes the entire experience all that much more special. You feel more INVOLVED with your PC and your games and maintaining all of its programs and updating and patching and customising settings.. the PC feels like an extension of yourself, a part of you. And not just some box sitting in your living room that you put a disk in and turn on to just 'play'.

but i think games tend to be better on pc due to the GPU you can upgrade it when ever you need to where as with console's your stuck with it i play on both consoles and PC but i tend to lean more towards pc than consoles unless i want to play some classics like e.g. zelda, mario, starfox etc. :D

Definitely my Console.

First of all, (I know this isn't for all PC games.. but..) I like to have a controller instead of a keyboard and mouse.

Secondly, Each PC games hogs some good deal of space on your hard drive after installation, with consoles its not a problem since there are game Discs.

Third, Consoles have generally been more reliable when it comes to online play for me (and easier).

Fourth, Consoles are cheaper (if its just gaming your looking at) and come with vast accessories.

Fifth, Consoles come with standard graphics, RAM, & CPU, meaning if your not the person who really has time to deal with their PC speed, etc, Its already there for you.

And Sixth, Consoles are portable, I would game in numerous locations, and if you have a desktop for gaming (Which about most do) you know you cant carry it.

I could even play my console in an RV with a portable DVD player, but not a PC..

EDIT!
Also, PC's are not the machine to play multiplayer when your friends come over unless you have a game that has multiplayer, supports controllers, and you actually have 4 USB Controllers.
Consoles are Controller required, and they are built for multiplayer with friends, (if its not online).

Thats why :]

Which tend to end up negating the 'cheaper' variable once you start buying stuff :p
