far cry

I've got Steam on my computer and b4 I upgraded my system to vista 64 I could play Far Cry the first one and it looked real good with all the things on high but as I said I switched to vista 64 my system seems fine but Far Cry crashes left right and centre I was thinking it may be vista what do you guys think as cryo said to try a couple of things and it didn't work.

Re: far cry

Hi BugBuster,

I think I may know the problem I had something similar with FarCry its not actually a Vista problem just a wierd glitch I suppose when it installs. have a look to in the log file in your steam directory and see if it mentions msvcp71.dll and/or msvcr71.dll

no don't place them in system32 for some reason they didn't initiate there for me copy them to the folder of the main executable of FarCry and that should sort it for you.

Re: far cry

You will need both files for it to work fully, it is mentioned in the second link I posted.

Go for it. Makes the game look better and play better, and the best part is now pretty much all of us have the hardware to run the game it was meant to be played; max settings and resolution.

See i waited long enough and brought my new laptop 2 months ago so I'm playing all the good ones at max resolution and max detail. Oblivion and FEAR 2 look so darn beautiful on my lappy.
