Gaming crashes

Hello , i am new at this forum and i am desperate into solving my problems with vista here. Now the problem is that when i played a game for a 30 a 60 minutes it crashes to the background or i get the bluescreen crash.

The Games that i currently play are :
-GTA 4
-Saints Row 2
-The Witcher

My Pc Specs are :

- Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit
- Nvidea GeForce 9600 GT
- Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz
- Motherboard = Asus P5K
- 4 times 1 GB RAM DDR2

now if anyone could help me with this , you would make me a very happy man.

Re: Gaming crashes

30 to 60 minutes crash huh! I would speculate on hot temps on either the GPU or CPU.

What is the BSOD stop error?

download new drivers for sound, video and display, uninstall the current ones, reboot and install the fresh copies.

Re: Gaming crashes

GTA4 crashes for me, about 30-60 mins into it, but only on windows 7, doesnt do the same on vista, must be some sort of driver error with our machines.

Well i am not sure but i believe it was something with video memory manage, i am not well known with all those things.

Also for the bluescreen crashes , as far as i know it happend after i upgraded my pc from 2 times 1 GB RAM to 4 Times GB RAM, i don't remember having this problem before this event.

Also a small thing about crashing to the background with gta 4 , something popped up about DEP in the right corner a while ago.

Re: Gaming crashes

could be a bad stick of ram, try 1 stick at a time, put in 1 stick try it, if ok, then 2 sticks, if ok then 3 sticks, try it, if ok then 4, good luck.

Re: Gaming crashes

dep? have you done a full virus scan of your system, dep only pops up if you got a virus trying to hog your system resources, i would recommend a full system scan with any antivirus you have installed.

Re: Gaming crashes

i seem to have fixed the blue-screen crashes , not sure tough, will give feedback later on. but about the background crashes, does it has something to do with vista incompatibility? if so how do i get XP SP 3 as a option in the layer at the compability tab ?

Re: Gaming crashes

Im running Vista Ultimate X64, SP2, and mine only goes up to XP, SP2, so it must be Windows 7.
