Yeah, I'm talking about that fan thing that's part of the PSU.

Yeah, I got bored after the 30 minute point. Rage quit.

What is S/W related?

BSOD?

That error log probably isn't even logging the actual error, I'm just guessing it might be. No errors or messages from Windows.

It's been happening ever since i bought it.

Yes, I can game when it restarts, but only for 10minutes+ before it happens again (I game immediately after rebooting).

Latest drivers.

It shows up in Display properties.

The thing is, I'm not 100% sure, but I think that after the problem occurs, everything goes back to normal but the screen is still skrewed (of course the game dies), and it may be taking me back to the desktop with an error, but I can't see it because my screen is dead.

ALSO
Furmark isn't working - Forbidden.

I almost forgot.

Firstly, I used Vista, got the problem, then went back to XP.
XP worked.
Went back to Vista, happened again.

if thats the case its most likely a driver issue. I no for ATI the catalyst can be a real pain in vista but work flawlessly even on XP 64 for nvidia it could be the same idea

Re: Call of Duty 4 Freezes and pixels go strange

The odd prob I have with COD WAW is that it hangs when loading a new map or when I hit ESC. It is the only game on my laptop that does this. The game runs great and looks awesome with all spects on max. But I just hate when the round is over and a new map starts and it takes approx 30 seconds to load the new one. BTW I have a Gateway P6860 FX laptop

lukeroberts, any ideas how I could fix a driver issue? I've downloaded them right from NVIDIA.

FLE, what was your intentions in posting that? I didn't understand, was it supposed to be relevant to my issue?

right....... so you dont get green artifacting on XP, but you do on vista.??

if this is the case it wont be heat related, but at the same time i have never known a driver to cause screen artifacts after 10+ mins of gaming..??

i will have a hunt about for a similar problem.....

Re: Call of Duty 4 Freezes and pixels go strange

its not necessarily the wrong drivers it might just be that it didn't install correctly. when i was reading over the message you found in your event log i saw "faulting module nvd3dum.dll, version 7.15.11.8120"

Re: Call of Duty 4 Freezes and pixels go strange

Hungrytohea, I am sorry I was not trying to be cryptic in my message. I also am having problems with COD and have no answers why the game hangs when loading maps on my laptop but it does not on my tower. My laptop a faster processor, vid card and more ram it runs vista 64x premium home. My tower is so old it should be in the smithsonian, it is running xp. Oddly COD is the only game that will hang for a few seconds on loading new maps on my laptop. All of the other games on it run fine. I dont get it?

Yes, do you suppose it's a problem with that .dll file?

EDIT: This may be a DirectX 10 problem perhaps?
