I'm pretty sure it's Vista Home Premium.

Try to see if you can run the installer for oblivion. If not just browse to bethesda softworks and delete everthing with oblivion and then reinstall.

I did delete everything with Oblivion, but it still has the play screen pop up and refuses to uninstall.

I tried putting in the second disc for shivering isles and knights of the nine, but instead of uninstalling, it's installing it. I'm going to let it go, and see what happens.

Okay...it now says "This application has failed to start because binkw32.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

But when I click on the launch thing that pops up when I put in the disc, it takes me to the start screen.

Re: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion issue---My game won't work

Download and run Revo Uninstaller and uninstall everything to do with Oblivion. Then download and install Tune Up Utilities and run the Tune Up 1-Click Maintenance icon it places on your desktop and then click on Correct Problems.

Once its finished reboot your pc and install these updates:

Windows Installer
DirectX (You need this whether you running DirectX 9, 10 or 10.1)
.NET Framework
C ++ for Vista 32 bit

Once you have done the above reboot your pc then install Oblivion.

No problem also if you could tell us if you have a 32bit or 64 bit Vista that would help as il then edit my above post to include the C++ download you should install as well.

If you dont know then do this:
  1. Click on the vista start orb
  2. Then click on Computer
  3. Once that opens click on System Properties on the top bar
  4. In the window that opens look through the list and you will see System Type
  5. Next to that it will say if you have a 32 bit or 64 bit
