Vista - How many FPS do YOU get on crysis?

if its crysis your playing and not crysis warhead pay particular attention to his "very high on the cheap" section , there is very little differance between the original crysis in DX10 as oppsosed to DX9 visually . you can tweak your cfg file to set Very high setings when in DX9 (all the insructions are there if you really cant be arsed to find our how PM me and ill tell you) the image quality is very close to DX10 but you'll get on average an extra 10-15 fps , just look at his screenshot comparrisons

with crysis warhead the differance between DX9 and DX10 is more pronounced DX10 looks much better

trust me on tis one you MUST read that guide if you like crysis

I usually get anywhere from 23-40FPS running in 1600x1200.

I am still running an old 8800GT 512mb card.

one thing always worries me about those screenies is its all very well getting 30fps staring into space but when it all kicks off its a differant story , and i cant manage to maintain those framerates your getting with a 260GTX nevermind an 8800gt , ive just upgraded from one of those so i know this card is twice as fast

those tweaks may be good but i can beleive there that good

edit after seeing what that mod does all i can think is it'll hit the fps even more!!

Hi archie and ..., don't know if this has been mentioned already, 190.38 driver really helps. I'll be able to max out on almost all settings except AA off on Warhead. There is no obvious different with AA off with max resolution. Also, the fps on Street Fighter 4 benchmark is almost double!

not really i agree but 2AA does reduce shimmering in distant textures i notice @ 1680x1050 , that said i use the edgeAA command to smooth out the foliage , it makes the whole game look better , AA doesnt work with edgeAA enabled though but its a good tradeoff , edge AA has the ............ erm ............edge

i have it running now at 1680x1050 all settings enthusiast DX10 and im getting minimum 20 maximum around 43 , with a few tweaks however in the end battle with the big monster thingy i was seing 15fps at times

Archie, I only play the Campaign and I have done both Crysis & Warhead to death so I am not going to invest to much time on it but, I usually like to tweak here and there just to learn and for fun.

then look at nunyabiz post and tweak it for eye candy , its pretty bloody impressive , plays havoc with your fps though

Yes I am running DX10.
Just try the mod it doesn't really take much of a hit in FPS.
I rarely get any less than low 20's average probably 28-30 and just cruising around get higher, its playable for me in the single player mode, if I go online I tone it down to get 35+.

The graphics are so good with it that I find myself just strolling around looking at sh!t quite a bit.

yeah me too i just kill all the baddies then go into strength mode and knock everything down

i have tried the mod , well ive added the tweaks to the autoexec i already have it is impressive

I may just have to try that tweak, I took Wolfenstein for a ride and it was not what I expected.


I used to love to do that with the Original Far Cry, not so much with Crysis because the water/scenic are not as big as they were in FC but, I will probably go for a stroll after I finish with this tweak of yours

archie, I would gladly try your tweak if I understood it or knew where to add that code at.
