| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 : Seven Ultimate x64 | Re: GTA IV Firstly, always make sure you have the latest video drivers and game patches applied. If everything is up to date, then basically all you can really do is keep lowering the details within the game until the lag is reduced. Disable / turn off any Anti virus apps you may have running. The game is laggy because both your CPU and GPU aren't up to the job and you are also accessing the pagefile continually. GTA IV still has a huge memory leak problem and even though you have 4GB, you are using x32 which limits the amount of usable RAM you have. This limits the amount of available RAM available to the game which increases the need for the slower pagefile access. This is a badly coded console port that even struggles on higher-end systems. |

| Vista Home Premium 64-bit | Re: GTA IV They did release a memory leak patch for GTA IV. It's Microsoft-approved. You didn't mention you had the patch-fix, so get that first. Then next, you might consider using a memory-manager program. I was considering buying GTA IV since I am a huge fan of the series, but with that wack rights-management software they throw in there, and the fact that you can't play it at all without online registration, I decided they have enough of my money. |
