I need some help

Hi All,

Please help me!. I have just bought a new pc and its running Windows Vista Home premium Sp1. I am trying to run my favourite game on it - Battlefield Vietnam and it wont play.

I am wondering if this game is supported by Vista. I could really do with some advice on how to get this running.

Thanks in advance.

Re: I need some help

Hello CrazyJim,
We will need a bit more info here.
What version of Vista are you running ?, x32 x64 ?, and some system specs would help too.
Make sure your Vista is up to date too.
More info = more help.
Also look here, good luck and post your results.

Re: I need some help

Maybe it will run in compatibility mode. Try that first. Using Windows 7 or Vista Compatibility Mode :: the How-To Geek

Re: I need some help

Right click Computer, and go to Properties, or Control Panel > System. You will see something like this.
Is this the only game that you cant get to play ?. It looks like it will run on Vista x32 but not x64.
I have found in the past that a No CD/DVD patch will help when other solutions wont.
Also make sure your system and games are up to date.

Re: I need some help

I would say its probally 32 bit most pcs pre made are 32 bit!
Download the latest patch

Patches and Fixes: Battlefield Vietnam v1.2 Patch Full Install - Demo Movie Patch Download Section - GamersHell.com

then this one

Patches and Fixes: Battlefield Vietnam v1.21 Incremental Patch - Demo Movie Patch Download Section - GamersHell.com

then follow these instructions:

Run your game in Compatibility Mode:
  1. Right-click the game's desktop shortcut icon and choose Properties.
  2. In the Properties Panel, click the Compatibility tab.
  3. Place a check in the Compatibility Mode checkbox.
  4. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2/3) in the mode box.
  5. Click Apply to save your changes.
If you did not opt to have a desktop icon installed:
  1. Find the game icon listed in your Games directory.
  2. Right-click on the game and click on Customize. This will bring up the Customize menu.
  3. Select Play.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. This will bring up the Properties screen. Click on the Compatibility tab.
  6. Check Run in Compatibility Mode and then choose Windows XP (or whatever operating system the game was designed for).
  7. Press Apply, and then press OK. You will be back at the customize menu.
  8. Close the customize screen.
  9. The game should now be configured to run in Compatibility Mode.
If you're playing multiple games, you will have to configure each game to run in Compatibility Mode separately.
You might also want to try running the software as an administrator by following the steps below:
  1. Right-click the game's desktop shortcut icon and choose Properties.
  2. In the Properties Panel, click the Compatibility tab.
  3. In the Privilege Level section, place a check in the Run this Program as an Administrator checkbox.
  4. Click Apply to save your changes.
  5. Try the software again.
