| Vista Ultimate x64 | d3dx9_xx.dll!! Alright, I noticed this problem after I got The Witcher from a used game store 2 months ago. Gave the an error saying it couldnt find d3dx9_35.dll. Went to game boards and sought help.. Ran the web directx updater, etc.. Same error, same everything.. i actually checked the folder, and the file is there! I figured, whatever, buggy second-hand gameonly cost me 10$... Well, I recently got Dragon Age Origins.. And, well.. I cant run the game and it gives me a message in Japanese (Im running Japanese Vista Ultimate with english language pack). Basically saying d3d9x_36.dll gave an error/could not be found. Well, I'm starting to think its a problem with my system and not the game. Updated video card drivers, running the game as an administrator, tried to run it in all compatibility modes... I deleted all the d3d9x files then running dxwebsetup.exe to replace them.. They were reinstalled...But I still get the same error message... Anyone got a clue what the problem might be? |

| Vista Ultimate SP2 x64 : Seven Ultimate x64 | Re: d3dx9_xx.dll!! Try the full directx installer instead of the web installer: Download details: DirectX Redist (August 2009) If it still gives you errors, try copying the d3d9x_36.dll directly into: C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship (That method has worked for other games, but it's no guarantee that it will for DA:O. Try copying it into different folders if it doesn't detect it in the bin_ship folder) |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: d3dx9_xx.dll!! It didnt solve the problem... I've looked into the error more closely and its 「正しくないイメージ」 Which would translate to "Incorrect image" And says how it gave an error or couldnt start properly. So I guess its not a problem with the file being found.. I ran the full update, and still get the same error.. I'm starting to consider a full windows reinstall |

| Vista Home Premium 32bit | Re: d3dx9_xx.dll!! try running dxdiag.exe and see what it says. That will look for any 3d card, and the directx files and check them. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: d3dx9_xx.dll!! Dxdiag didnt give me any errors that i could see, though the window seemed to cut at the bottom (theres a text box written "no problems found", but i can only see hald of it and the window is not resizable and theres no scrollbar. I printed out a dxdiag log and theres a few "???" on some driver names, but im guessing thats because those drivers are japanese and dxdiag cant print out the japanese characters because im using the english language pack? Anyways, no problems according to dxdiag... Strange, i remember there being tests available for direct3d and all that in dxdiag, but I couldnt find any... |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: d3dx9_xx.dll!! Yeah Its the first thing i did... I just did a format and reinstalled windows, and just finished reinstalling the basic drivers, and it SEEMS to be working (I can use the character generator, which i couldnt before), so i am going to try and install the game. Its strange that it goes off as a d3dx9 dll error when i have the file. If it works ill then be downloading vista windows updates little by little and see if some update somewhere was causing those problems.. |
