Fullscreen games effect screen resolution

Hi everybody, I had this very annoying problem, and maybe someone knows a solution.

Everytime I play a fullscreen game, and I stop, the following happens:
When my screen goes black (to save energy, I don't have a screensaver), and when I hit a key to light my screen up again, the resolution has changed. The resolution my pc jumps to varies with the games I play, for instance, when I play Super Smash Bros (on a Nintendo 64 emulator), the resolution is set to its lowest (800x600), and when playing Braid, it jumps to 1280x768 pixels. A list of my screen resolutions:

800x600
1024x768
1280x720
1280x768
1360x768
1366x768

Is there any way to solve this problem? Because everytime I reset the resolution to 1366x768, the icons on my Desktop have changed places, this is really annoying.

Thanks in advance!

For some users, this problem relates to a driver bug (primarily for NV cards). Though nv has never officially released a patch or something. Some report that the problem could be solved by reinstall the graphics driver if ur lucky enough.

Nevertheless to mention there's some opportunity that it's caused by system software interference. That is, some of your system related software interfere with each other and ultimately bring damage to your OS.

Sadly, there's no absolutely viable solution (except reinstalling your Vista) yet.

For the icon rearrangement issue, there're some software that manages your desktop themes can help u "remember" the icons' original locations. I cant really recall their names. U can search for some.
