Previously functioning game will not work

I belong to Shockwave Unlimited. On my Vista Home Premium (SP2 32-bit) desktop I set up a user account for my grandson (age 5) so that the only thing he sees are the game shortcuts. I have made no changes to my system. There is no evidence of an infection. I do full scans every day with Avast Internet Security 6, and once a week I open and run the free versions of Malwarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware.

The last time my grandson was here, approx. 4 weeks ago, everything worked fine with a game called Supercow. He was here this weekend and altho everything appeared to be functioning fine, when he selected "Let's go" he could not start the game. The character (Supercow) will jump using either the arrows or the mouse, but he will not move either left or right so that the game can commence.

I uninstalled with Revo Uninstaller and then went into the registry, did a search and removed all Supercow items found, and there were a number. So a secondary question is why didn't Revo find those items?

Anyway, I then downloaded the game and reinstalled it and it still doesn't work. I have checked my Adobe Flash and Shockwave and everything is fine there.

As the game was starting, the screen turned black and in the center in white letters it said "to install" and then the game opened as normal. Everything seems to work fine and the graphics are beautiful, but Supercow won't move so he can play the game.

I should add that all the other games I have installed from Shockwave Unlimited worked fine.

If you can help me I would be ever so grateful because he LOVES this game.

Thank you

I would have no clue when whatever happened, happened to this game. It worked a month ago; it doesn't now. Neither his user account nor the game had been opened since the last time he was here.

My restore points only go back 5 deep.

Something caused this game to stop working, even though all the other games work. I'm just hoping someone else has run into something like this and can offer a possible fix.

Yes, I know about that. I used to have loads of restore points, but I don't anymore. I'm still hoping someone can give me an avenue to explore. It's almost as though the game is disconnected from the mouse and the keyboard.

I just thought of something I have done. I installed the newest version of Logitech Setpoint software. Could that have affected just this game?

Dont really know about sepcific games, but do know about Vista.
Try to uninstall completely, again.
Try to install in another account, see if that helps.

I opened a new Administrator account to try and open this game in. It didn't work so I wanted to delete the account and I am sure I chose to delete all files and folders, but there is still a folder for it in C/Users, altho when I go to User Accounts it is not there. Do I dare just delete that folder.

I went directly to the site of the game mfg. which is Nevosoft Games. I wrote to them and am hoping they will answer. In the meantime, I downloaded this trial game from their site, installed it and it worked like a charm.

Since I have to pay for it after 60 minutes, I then uninstalled it, went back and reinstalled the game from Shockwave. It won't work just like before. I'm not very smart about this stuff but doesn't that indicate there is something wrong with the installer being provided by Shockwave?

I dont think that it proves anything, until the game does not work in a new account. It could be that remnants remain, so the new install does not work properly.
You may want to try ccleaner to remove all remnants and try again.

I uninstalled Supercow. I used CCleaner to clean registry. Now I would like to try and open a new account, install Supercow and see if it will work.

But first, why didn't that new account I created earlier today disappear when I deleted it, and then selected to remove all files? I have created standard user accounts before and deleted them with no problem. Is it because this was an administrator account?

I do have to have an administrator account to install a game don't I?

Any user account should be able to be deleted from an andminstrator account.
If you tried that and it did not work, try in safe mode
This tutorial will show you how to get into Safe Mode if you need it.

Advanced Boot Options

If you delted all administrative accounts boot in safe mode an create a new administrator account.

To recap, I had uninstalled Supercow with Revo Uninstaller, then used CCleaner Registry Cleaner.

I then rebooted, opened a new administrator account, went to Shockwave, downloaded and installed the game. I opened it and it will not work.

I can buy the game from Nevosoft for $6.99, but shouldn't have to when I pay $60 a year to belong to Shockwave. Since the game works from Nevosoft, now would you say that there has to be something wrong with the Shockwave version of the game?

From your information, it does appear that there is some problem with the game.
