I have tried and tried and I can't figure it out. Me and my brother are both running vista buisness 32bit computers, I have a RSPS that i am trying to play via lan. i've set the ip address on the client right i've even gone as far as completely disabling the firewalls on the computers and our router. Now my first thought was it was the Rsps but I also had the same problems when trying to play minecraft together. I've done it before but i had to use hamachi and recently i switched internet providers and i have a limited data plan. I really need some help i've spend a good 6 hours at this and i'm to the point of complete frusteration. I"ve read many thread of simular problems and tried their solutions and so far i've had no success... I am able to transper files between the computers through a shared folder, the workgroup is the same.... Please help me =\

Hi & welcome,

I would like some more information if you could please: -

What game are you trying to play?
Can you copy files to both pc's from the other one or do you just have read only access?
What firewall & antivirus software are you using?
Are both PC's connect via wire or wirelessly?

This information is needed to build the picture of your network & establish what the game might need to work.

Also, when you are trying to join games, push the windows key on your keyborad or alt+tab to minimize it and see if there's a firewall message, UAC prompt, or any other message that requires your attention. This is the problem I have 90% of the time when playing LAN games. I know you disabled the firewall, but try it anyway. Also, if you have a router (or maybe even a modem might work if it has enough slots), try connecting the LAN cables to that. If that's what you're doing, try connecting them directly into each port on the two computers. Otherwise you might have the wrong kind of cable, I know some only allow one-way data transfer, where LAN gaming requires two-way. I don't know the specifics for these cables, you can probably find a number on the cable to google or ask someone here with more knowledge on that matter.

Hi again,

Sounds as though I need further information about the systems you are using.

Windows Bussiness is for bussines use & is not quite the same easy set-up for games!

Please advise me of the make & models for both PC's.
Was this operating system installed from new on both machines?

Are there any policy restrictions applied to any or both of these machines? IF so or you aare not sure then you will need to contact the network administrator for your systems.
