Neverwinter Nights 2 problems

Hello!

I've been trying for a while now to get Neverwinter Nights 2 to run under Windows Vista Ultimate x64, but so far no dice.

What happens is that the game starts up just as normal, until I load a saved game or start a new one. Then the game grinds to a halt, proceeding in slideshow mode for a couple of minutes before both the game and the display driver crashes.

I've run the game on the same PC before, in Windows XP (except I had an older graphics adapter before I upgraded to Vista). My setup is as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+
2GiB DDR-RAM
XFX GeForce 8800GTS 320MiB
250GiB Western Digital SATA-300
MSI K8N Diamond motherboard (with integrated Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit)

I have been trying every NVIDIA driver version from 100.65 to 158.18, but the result is much the same. The game is also patched to the latest version.

Does anybody here have any ideas, or similar experiences?

Have you tried shutting off Xfire while playing? It stopped crashing for me when I did that. Also, try shutting off shadows and water.

Actually, although it's been a while since I first posted this, I only recently solved this problem. It was actually a rather peculiar hardware error in my graphics adapter. Now that I've had it replaced with a new identical card, the performance in NWN2 is much better.

No problem. I know that it's hard to fix some of the errors (still occuring) with nwn2, but you could also check Biowares forum for nwn2 if you've missed it (it happens that people miss it since it's Obsidian who made the sequel )

Jo, det kunde vi faktiskt ha gjort, tur dock att man slipper prata för vad gäller norska och danska så tror jag att det är något glapp mellan öronen och hjärnan (även om norska är betydligt lättare att hänga med på)

My NWN2 locks up as soon as I go outside on the first mission. I get stuck somewhere between the loading screen and a map of the whole area. I can hear the conversation and fighting in the background but it just wont run.

Have you tried the tech support forum at Bioware (the forum I mentioned previously)? Haven't really had the problem you've described (although it sounds graphic card related and there seems to be more people with similar problems in the tech support forum)

I'm having the same problem as Snake3eyes, is there any fix to this?

Vista 32 Dell Inspiron laptop, plenty of RAM and free GB space.
Video and audio is fine until I go to leave the little cabin in the very first scene, then crashes. I can't get beyond that point! Please help.

Hi my names SPAMMAN i have vista home premium. Now i don't have an answer to ur problems but i have one my self. When i get to neverwinter and go into duncans inn i can't leave after that. I try to leave the door and the game crashes. plz help.
