Screensaver

I am unable to get the Screensaver to work on my laptop that has Vista. Any thoughts on how I can get it to work? I have taken it back for service and no one can figure it out.

All of the screensavers or just the ones you have installed yourself?
Third party screensavers on Vista 64 tend to install themselves in the wrong directory. The .scr file needs to go into SYSWOW64 instead of System32..where youll find thats where they probably are. Just transfer them into the 64bit folder and they should show up...

Hmm, now thats strange..even the installed MS ones? Have you tried a System Restore back before you installed something-presuming that you did?

Hi Marcia,

If you are using a mouse in addition to the touchpad for your laptop, then this can cause this problem. You will need to disable one of them. If it is a wireless mouse, then disable the mouse.

I also heard of video drivers causing this type of problem. Try updating the video driver with a newer version to see if it will help.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I had the same problem and it was due to me using a wireless mouse. I contacted Mircosoft support and they told me it was due to the frequency that the mouse receiver was putting out that was causing the problem. I changed to a wired mouse and all screensavers now work. By the way Microsoft said they have no intention of fixing this problem. That was quoted to me in the email they sent me.

I have a custom bulit PC and that is just one of the articles going around about screensavers not working with wireless mouse in use with Vista. They would not even attempt to help me ( them being Mircosoft) . You can google wireless mouse with vista screensaver and there are several articles talking about this problem. Sorry if I misled you.
