Please help! BSOD on Vista x64 install

Everytime I attempt to boot from the vista 64-bit DVD, I get a BSOD after the first load screen. I'm all out of ideas now, and very frustrated. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Below is my system.

Pentium 4 EE 3.7ghz Dual Core
MSI P4N Diamond SLI motherboard
2gb of RAM
Nvidia 7800gt x 2

I had problems like that during beta, removing a graphics card sorted it.

As a general rule when this sort of thing happens, reset your bios and remove any hardware from the system that is not needed for the install.

are you overclocking? if so, go back to default settings. also check voltages in bios to see if your power supply is working correctly. also test the memory to see if it might be bad

I am not overclocking, and I ran a memory test which came up with no problems. I looked at my voltages, but I must admit, I really don't know what they are supposed to be. How do I find out what they are supposed to be? If you have any other ideas that might help please let me know. Thanks.

well the 12 volt rail should be around 12 and the 3.3 should be around 3.3 and so forth. if they are below those levels there is good chance the power supply is bad

All voltages seem to be correct. My power supply is 600W so don't think it's the problem. I did ,however, just notice something that I should have a while ago. I have 2 x 2gb Mushkin DDR2, but windows only sees 2gb. Can you tell me what might cause that?

Scratch what I said about the memory, it's working. I am still stuck on the install though. Nothing seems to work. Just the same blue screen and the same stop message. Any ideas?

If your installing with 4gig in remove some as vista can be funny about installing with 4gig+ of memory.

Yep install with only 1 Stick of RAM(2GB),then install this patch from microsoft
Patch
then put the other stick in and hopefully all goes well and you will have a stable system.

Tried the 2gb thing...still getting the same bsod. The thing that seems strange to me is, I've seen people get BSODs on here durring the install, but I'm getting it right after the initial black and white load screen. I never even get to start the actual install.

I was getting the same thing when I was installing with 3GB of ram (2x1GB/2x512MB)... I took out the 512 sticks and no more problems. They were all rated with the same timings and voltage too.

Try moving your ram to other banks on top of the other stuff.

The issue has not yet been resolved. I have been in communication with microsoft for the last three days trying to get it resolved now. I'll update if they solve my problem. Thanks for all the help.

i would update the BIOS - you might be able to do it from a USB stick if not a floppy

Sounds like a tough one... but some other ideas... I've had issues with my install and this is what I've had to do to get it to install.

1) make sure the BIOS is the latest version

2) remove all but one stick of my RAM (leaving a 1GB stick)

3) unplug all extra HDDs (leaving only my CD-Rom and the HDD I'm installing too)

...if possible for you to do, I would recommend making sure your video card's BIOS is updated as well.

I then format my HDD and then I can install Vista, after the install I apply the 4GB patch ASAP, I then reinstall my HDDs.... Vista will still hang on a black screen on every restart for me until I've installed my motherboard and video card drivers.... after that then I reinstall my 4GB RAM and everything works as it should... but it's a pain.

Want funny?.... Vista didn't have these problems installing the first 5 times... but now it does with no hardware change... figure that one out.
