Re: Show us your rig

Thanks Freelancer852 and LightingSpeed, I think you also have a very cool rig there. Yes the Northbridge cooler is very close but it looks closer then it is in that picture, there is about a 1cm gap in between but personally I was more worried about it shorting out on the back of my Graphics card. LOL

I think the big problem I have is space because this board was so small and it was only going to be a temporary replacement for my Gigabyte board which was RMA. I have to say I am glad I bought it though as it overclocks realy well. I wouldn't buy another Gigabyte board now I have used ASUS. ASUS ROCKS!!

Will have to get another full size board soon though, any suggestions anybody?

Yeah your mobo is too small ^^ glad to know its temporary.
About getting new mobo there is many good models iv seen
I like the nForce 790i Ultra. amazing mobo with very nice OC availability
It's also Designed for Next-Generation CPUs and Technologies, Supports 1600 FSB CPUs, DDR3 memory. And supports SLI and 3-way SLI, Im using nForce 780i.

Read more about it in Nvidia : nForce 790i Ultra SLI MCP
Read more about it in guru3d: nForce 790i Ultra SLI MCP review

You can look around and see what type of mobo you would like to have ^^

Thanks, that is a very SWEET board , I would definitely like to have it but not for $550+ AUS that was the cheapest online price and then I would have to pay postage on top of that, thanks anyway but maybe something about half that price would be better for me. Don't get me wrong I would love to buy it but the misses would kill me LOL.

Re: Show us your rig

Grim, if you're not going to be doing SLI, the best ASUS board (and not too expensive) is the ASUS p5n-d. The reason I said the SLI thing, was because there seems to bee a major design fault: the PCI x16 2.0 ports for your GPU are too close together. You could fit two 8800GT's in there, but one of them wouldn't be able to breathe.. so NO SLI!! If I were you I'd risk the jump to eVga and their nforce 750i FTW. It's not expensive and a very good board. But before you buy something always check the reviews from people who have bought it on for example www.newegg.com and off course on the forums too.

I haven't checked your specs yet, but make sure your PSU provides enough power as well.

Hmm... the asus link takes for ever to load.. what was the name of the board?

I saw some of those boards you are talking about but this one seems a little better,
Also has 2 PCIe 2.0 16x slots and 1 PCIe 16x slot and it comes with a sound card.

Re: Show us your rig

Most of people had Over Heating issue with it and its a modded Striker II Formula. They had to create a better stock cooler for it. I guess its better now with the new stock cooler they installed in this one.

And also saw that people having Issues with ASUS+nForce Chipset. And by the way the price of Nvidia 780i is the same of P5N72-T Premium

Yeah I was going to buy that Mobo but after doing some research's about it, strange stability issues when overclocking. Either its BIOS problem or something else.
That's why they created a modded version of Maximus II since it had over heating and overclocking issue.
But it's still a great Mobo after all.
