4GB memory X64

I installed 4 GB ram in my laptop, it's recognized in the bios but x64 see only 3062MB (as the 32 bit version), what can I do to use the full 4GB?

Hi tusccan72,
I think the laptop sees all 4 gig but is using shared memory for the video adapter. Maybe 128 or 256mb or more.

Re: 4GB memory X64

thanks. So I should see 4GB-256 that is far from 3GB I have. To be honest I installed 32 bit and vista recognized 3052MB, then I formatted the disk and installed 64 bit and vista see the same amount of memory 3052, am I missing something or I need to activate the memory in a different way? I tought with x64 I can see the full memory, 1GB lost for shared graphic seems a lot of ram...

Re: 4GB memory X64

Go into the Bios and see if there's a memory remapping function - Enable it.

Hi Tusccan,

Make sure that your motherboard has the latest BIOS flashed on it. Also, take a look at this KB929605 article to.

Hope this helps,
