Disable Driver Signing?

I'm trying to navigate to the option during Abit's Bios boot that allows you to Disable Driver Signing.

I disabled Driver Signing Before before I re-installed Vista 64 on this exact system and my IP-35 motherboard theres 2 options that come up when the computer first starts up, press DEL for setup and TAB for post. I remember specifically pressing 'TAB' button during this then I believe another prompt appeared to press f2 for more options, which leads to a few Windows System options previous to the OS starting one being an option to Disable Driver Signing.

However Now after reinstalling when I press 'TAB' NOthing happens. That press f2 prompt isnt there neither are the Vista options. All that happens when pressing TAB is a string of text scrolls down then it continues to load Vista as usual.

The f2 option is missing..

Why did the option dissapear and how do you disable driver signing?

The options of which you speak are not part of the motherboard BIOS, but of Windows itself. You can access the boot menu by repeatedly pressing the <F8> key after the BIOS POST, but before Windows starts. You should get to the options you want to then.

F8 doesn't seem to be doing anything I tried a few times.

I know I remember seeing 'press f2' after POST previous to reinstalling Vista but now it's not there.

I believe that function was removed in one of the updates, and you can no longer permanently disable the security check for signed drivers. You may do so temporarily, but when you restart the Certificate Nazi takes over your computer again.

There is a permanent solution tho: Purchase/download the appropriate Software Development Kit, and use the tool in the SDK to sign them yourself. Please be advised that if you use an SDK to sign a piece of malware (accidentally, of course...), and it propagates itself, it'll take your signature with it.

Interesting. I've been trying to figure out a way of getting unsigned drivers to function in Vistax64 SP1.....which SDK is this, exactly? Where can I get it from?

P.S If i've revived this post unecessarily, I apologize. I'm just really anxious to try find this SDK so I can sign my own drivers.

All the help is appreciated.

By way of reference - An 'SDK' is a "Software Development Kit", and is a generic term for the tools a software developer uses to write code. I strongly urge that anyone who is not specifically trained to write their own software *NOT* play with one.

This works, but then there is the matter of the 'Test' watermark displayed at all corners of the screen.

To solve that, though, head here:

But as Scotteq said, have caution when dealing with the SDK/modifying such settings....be sure that whatever driver you're trying to sign are from a "legit" source/nature.
