| queen & country | hdd ..... hi all .....vista is running like a charm !!!!!!!! ![]() ![]() i have a question regarding my hdd i am about to change my IDE 7200 for a sata 2 7200 is there any way i can transfer or clone the whole hdd from one to the other OS and all so i dont have to reinstall vista and maybe have to go through the reactivation process or does it have to be a fresh install thanx.... |

| Administrator | Re: hdd ..... Hi skunksmash, Since you have the Ultimate Vista version, then yes there is. You can use the complete pc backup feature to make a backup of your hard drive to another location. (Ex: DVD, another drive or partition, etc..) Backup Complete Computer Then after you install the new drive, boot from your Vista installation DVD and restore the complete computer backup to that drive. Restore Complete Computer If you only have a Recovery Vista installation DVD, then this will not be possible though. Your only options then will be to reinstall or use a 3rd party backup program like Acronis True Image.
