Re: Plan to get vista ultimate 64!! any advice?

Same here, ive bought a second hdd to install vista on, so if i hit problems i can quickly switch back to xp if need be while i iron out any bugs.

Since putting my pc together last year, from buying the first part (dvd-rw) i planned to put vista on it so i could run at 64 bit - unfortunatly i hadnt planned ahead enough & didnt buy enough ram or a psu which could support a dx10 capable card or a case big enough for a dx10 capable card!!

So my advice to anyone who wants to get vista (even tho i dont have it yet) is to get at least 2gb ddr2 if you plan to play games on ur machine. Even xp with 1gb gave me trouble when playing the latest games.

vista x64 .....SUPERB !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all i can say is ram-ram and more ram this OS just munches up all free ram
imo 2gb is NOT enough 3gb min
my system was completly bogged down with only 2gb it would lock constantly or just take forever to open apps
4gb for the win.

I had one of those. Saitek has Vista x64 drivers for it.

The nice thing about Vista is that it has a much more recent driver library than XP. Things like printers, scanners, network cards etc. don't need drivers (most of the time).

In my case, my HP printer / scanner combo was detected correctly with full drivers. That's a blessing in disguise because it meant I didn't have to install HP's bloatware infested driver package

I have the Saitek Evo in Vista 64. Works flawlessly.
