| Vista Home Premium 64bit | Re: HDD Light always on The last time I had this problem it was a HD cable coming loose problem. Check that all your cables are clean and seated properly. You're probably thinking how could they come lose? I thought that too. |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | Re: HDD Light always on Look in your bios and see if any settings have changed. When you are in the bios is the HDD light still on? If it is back up the drive as it may be failing. Is your drive s.m.a.r.t Do you have indexing turned on? Do you have anti virus running in the background doing testing? What schedule task have you got running? Have you looked in your error logs to see if there are any problems there? Have you got SP1? What is the model of your HD? (add it to your sig). |

SMART is Disabled. Never really checked for indexing. Anti virus is on but no scanning. No scheduled tasks on. Never checked the logs, Fresh install fully patched. Western Digital Caviar SE 80GB It was working fine for a month then all of a sudden about 2 days ago it started just staying on so I wouldnt be anything that was done at the first install, Has to be either a patch or the Drive is crapping out. I just took it in yesterday morning, they will let me know whats up and when they do I'll post here. |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | Re: HDD Light always on The only other option if the light is on in the bios is to try a different cable. Is your harddrive and dvd on the same cable? If so move them to there own PATA cables as this will also speed up your system. Remove the DVD from your system and try that (Diagnositcs to remove it from the list of possible errors). If the light is still on after that it boils down to; 1. Faulty hard drive. 2. Faulty Hard drive controller on drive or mobo. |
