been looking for a good keyboard for my setup im not much of a garmer infact i hardly ever play games on my pc (use the 360 myself ) so im wondering
if a Logitech g15 would be overkill for me

love the fact the keys lightup ( not only to they light up they seem to do it very well) but i doubt i would use the m keys unless you can program them to open programs and copy and paste and stuff like that

it looks like great geeky blingage even if you don't play many games on the pc lol
but im still not sure

anyone got one

I have the original G15 gaming keyboard. Mine has the 18 programmable G-keys with 3 modes for a total of 54. The new revised G15 gaming keyboard is smaller with 6 G-keys and 3 modes for a total of 18 programmable G-keys. Also a slightly smaller lcd screen.

I think a non-gamer could get a lot of use out of it. Any windows commands you can do with a keyboard you can program to do with a G-key. Some non-gaming commands I have programmed to G-keys are the Windows key + e, Windows key + r, Windows key + pause, six frequently visited web sites. For Internet; Ctrl + n, Ctrl + f.

I have the G11 on one and the G15 on the other. Very useful ^_^ The older G15 is better though, because it has more macro keys.

I read somewhere (might have been on the logitec forums if they have one) that something in the older G 15 keyboards was wearing out and folks couldn't get the part to replace it, so I would be wary of buying a used one. I wish I could have found one as well. Back to the issue at hand though:

You should like your new G 15. Being left handed some of the gaming features IE: G keys aren't much help, but the LED display is cool. You can program it to tell you just about anything. Also you asked about the G keys? You can program them for a variety of tasks as well, that have nothing to do with gaming. I've been concentrating on getting my computer stable and learning this Vista so I haven't spent much time fooling with programming my keyboard. One cool thing is the built in hot buttons for all your media as well as the 2 USB ports. You can pause playback, mute sound, control sound, FF or rewbnd, check mail, and other things from the LED display without getting out of the program you are working on. Now if i can just figure out how to program it to go get me another beer, I think I'll be set.

No kidding about the left handed thing. They just don't make a mouse, gaming or otherwise, corded or cordless, for us lefties. Nowadays we are lucky to find a mouse that is straight, not curved "ergonomically" for you right handed buttheads. LOL even the G15, if you look on the back, doesn't have the grooves to send the mouse cable out to the left side. It's ok though, we left handed gamers are so much better that you righties need some way to handicap us just so you can kill us every now and again..... :p

I've seen those cool gaming mice and really wish I could get one. Heck, you almost don't need a keyboard with the newer ones. And ingame, the G15 G keys aren't easily accessible for a lefty either.

EDIT: Glad you like your G15 Lee, I knew you would. And LOL at the rat thing.

You can make one using the macro keys. At least that is what I did.

Click on one of your 'G' keys and select 'Assign shortcut...' In the first panel type Control Panel and in the second one type in C:\Windows\System32\control.exe

Now you are good to go.

Right now I'm typing on it, like two days ago I was vacuuming the carpet and I caught the cord with the vacum cleaner, and peeled a little the nylon hosing, scary but nothing else, going good, I am using a G5 mouse with it, and steering wheel G25, plus those big 5500 speakers from logitech..I don't recommend those speakers, they fail soon, but the sound is great.

My Computer

No it a great mouse
I agree it looks crap but it feels great it fits my hand perfectly
I had the chance to try both because i had friends which had both and i think the G9 was alot better than the G5 bit thats just my opinion and its up to you which one you choose

You DID notice did you not, that there is a slider switch/button, just to the left of the LED that turns the windows key off. Do you by chance have it slid to the right? That turns it off. However, I don't think the G15 allows the windows key to be used for anything other than to get to desktop. LOL I tried to make it a game control and it wouldn't let me.............
