It still prints light in Microsoft Office Picture program and the Windows Photo Gallery but in Photoshop and other photo programs it prints correctly. Yes... it's all about colour calibrating your Monitor, graphics card, printer, scanner and software.... there is a lot of reading to be done and dealing with the inherited difficulties with an LCD monitor.
Basically you will have to learn how to set Colour profiles for each of these things.
Do google searches on colour calibrating...and colour profiles (you might want to try the american spelling od "color" for more articles)
