forgot administrator password but currently logged on

I went to the Reset User Account Password site as suggested by Brink in another forum. I have a question about Method One before I try it. It says to logon to the Administrator account. I am already logged on. Can I go to Reset or Change the forgotten password? If so, how? Can I change or reset the password if I don't know the original password? I don't want to try this and get locked out of the computer.

You are able to change your password if you are logged on. This option work only if you are logged as Administrator.

Open My Computer->Control Panel-> User Account . Add a new user with administrator privilages. Switch to new user and change password for user where you have forgotten password. After that remove newly added user account.

Ps. Sory for English, it's not my native language.

You can run a command prompt as admin and do this,

net user (username) *

Note   Note
If you have set elevation requests to prompt for credentials which provides extra security for people getting your account after you logged on, this will prevent this solution. If you have not modified group policy this will work as its not set by default

This is much easier than making a new account.

Good Luck :)
