Re: Control Panel cause Explorer to stop working

This might be of help, this is the log from sfc /scannow This file is always corrupted, and it says it repairs it, but it never really does.

Re: Control Panel cause Explorer to stop working

Can you list all the .CPL files located in your "C:\Windows\System32\" Folder? (without using the search features as they might miss one or two)

Re: Control Panel cause Explorer to stop working

Humm, it's a mui media center file.
I attach here this file so you can replace it (rename the other one).
Then redo a sfc /scannnow to check.
Don't worry if the date of the file is may/10, but i had a wu that day concerning the en-US MUI.

Re: Control Panel cause Explorer to stop working

Try running explorer without any addons, there is an option hidden away in the start menu.

When following the instructions from Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop responding, I'm getting a permissions error, even though I did takeown /f with it

Re: Control Panel cause Explorer to stop working

Are you sure about that?

iTunes and Windows Vista
Apple's iTunes 7.6 plays nice with 64-bit Vista - Engadget

I have iTunes 7.6.2.9, so I should be in the clear.

Re: Control Panel cause Explorer to stop working

Nice fast reply, Itunes has caused problems with vista in the past. It may have been fixed now but I was not aware of this. There are so many programs and companies developing software, it is hard to keep track of it all

Post your system spec in your sig, this way some users may have seen this problem with your specific system before.
