| Member | Memtest Question Hi All, First time member/poster. Just finished building my first rig. I would like to check the memory for errors BEFORE I load/install Windows Vista Home Premium x64 to avoid install hang-ups. Can you make an ISO CD of this program, load it in your CD/DVD drive and check your memory for errors? I recently updated the BIOS on the board (DP35DP) and it does show all of the 4GB of Kingston ValueRam PC800 1.8v (2x2gb) installed. I have good reason to believe that it's from a respectable manufacturer. Just want to make sure the memory is good before I load up the OS. Thanks to all that reply |

| Technophile Wannabe | Re: Memtest Question Hello Barnabas, Welcome to the forums! If this is the product you are talking about, then yes they are reputable. You can boot into a CD to check your RAM, I use it myself. It would be best to let it run through 3 or 4 passes to be sure, overnight would be best. | Master | Re: Memtest Question Best to test each module one at a time. Do a full test. The CD ISO is the best way of running it. |

| Member | Re: Memtest Question I tried about 4 burns of the .iso and it would never boot (BIOS problem?), so I finally had to hook up an old floppy to get it running, but then it worked great. Like SCSI said, try 'em one at a time, and then both together. |

| Antidisestablishmentarian | Re: Memtest Question For burning ISOs I *highly* recommend ISO Recorder v3 - it is quick, simple, and works like a charm. It is very lightweight on resources, and can both make ISOs from discs as well as burn ISOs to discs. I am currently using the 64bit version, but all last year and the year before I used the 32 bit version on Vista Ultimate 32bit without any problems. |

| Member | Re: Memtest Question Thanks SCSI for your "each stick individually" suggestion. Both came out with 0 errors and the 2 sticks together went through 6 passes without a hitch. Now I can load up Vista x64 feeling a little better. Really nice forum...Thanks to all !! Dave |
