Every time I login to my account, windows installer pops up and then this error pops up.

Is there a way I can prevent this from popping up? It started happening last reboot.

I've already tried system restoring. The last thing I did was uninstall a few programs. I googled this problem and it turns out it has something to do with my HP printer. I ended the HP task and the installer was gone too.

I think I found the problem. I think a system component was pointing to a file that no longer exists. I used my program of choice, Tuneup Utilities 2008, and got rid of these problems and I will now reboot and tell you how it goes.

Same problem. Ugh, I guess I'll just keep HP Digital Viewer from starting up, I don't even use it. Thanks for the help.

Hi ZaBaKa,

That message only appears if one of the installed programs is corrupted, you will need to reinstall it before that error will disappear.

The most common reason I have come across is driver incompatibility. Since this is a x64 forum I am going to assume your running a 64bit platform. Make sure you have the 64bit drivers installed for your applications. I have had a few client side computers running x64 show this error repeatedly after HP software was installed using the 32bit installer package.
If you can single out the program that is producing this issue, uninstall it and grab a fresh 64bit version of the installer to reinstall with.

Also, you may be able to run the problem application using compatibility mode for Windows XP SP3. Do not quote me on that as I have not tried this since I have always found it easier to just grab fresh 64bit drivers instead.

Just A friendly FYI

the vistax64 forums is for both 32bit and 64. The main thing I wanted to point out is the thread you are replying to is from may. Not many ppl come back that much later.

If in doubt start a new thread if you have a problem and just keep an eye on the dates

Welcome to vista forums
