Driver Exploit and Windows Activation

|-|{-|_|_()
I was happily using my Windows Vista Ultimate(32-Bit) on Lenovo laptop. One day a dialog box appeared and said
"Windows has found software that circumvents windows activation and interferes with it's normal operation. The presence of this software may indicate your copy of windows is counterfeit."
The software was SL07-001, a driver exploit. I wanted to know from where it came and how does it work. I removed it according to instructions provided at Microsoft(How to remove the "OEM driver" activation exploit and the "grace timer" activation exploit from a Windows Vista-based computer). After that Windows started asking for activation. I found the product key using WinGuggle1.2.
When I try to activate windows it starts activation and says activation might take a few minutes and suddenly error 0xC004E003 occurs. This has happened every time when I try to activate. Please help me, I don't want to leave Ultimate. I have seen on many places that grace period for activation is 30 days but I have been given only 15 days. I would also like to know how to make activation by phone.

Generally, if the automatic activation sequence fails, then you will be prompted to do so by phone. Just read what the instructions on-screen is asking you do do, and you shouldn't have a problem.

Although the existence of this exploit on your system is cause for concern, so perhaps even a phone activation may not work. Do not be overly alarmed if you have to purchase a whole new license for Vista. Oh, and take up this matter with the company from which you purchased the computer - it is their resposibility to provide you with a legit license when you purchase a new computer.

Re: Driver Exploit and Windows Activation

In addition to Dzomlija`s post Contact Microsoft imminently, The company who installed your Vista might be illegally installing Vista on PCs and your might be illigble for a complete refund from that company after Microsoft checks them out, they also give away rewards to people who report companys who later have been found to be illigally Stealing customers money instad of giving them a licence.
