User Pic in Login Screen

Hi,
I've been searching through the forum's tutorials and all through Google to find out how to change the size of the user picture in the login screen. I don't have a password set to my account and I am currently the only one with an account on the computer, so the picture is very small on my 22" 1680*1050 monitor.

Thanks in advance

Re: User Pic in Login Screen

Hello Spd2Last,

Sorry, but there is no option in Vista to allow you to change the size of the user logon display picture.

You can change the logon background image if you wanted to do that instead.

Logon screen - Change

hope this helps some,
Shawn

Re: User Pic in Login Screen

Yep, you can change the backround image either with logonstudio (see Shawn's link) or you can do it yourself by editing imageres.dll with a resourse editor and change the screen which corresponds to the resolution of your screen.

Re: User Pic in Login Screen

Thanks for your help, but I already knew how to change the background. I was just wondering if there was a registry setting or a file somewhere that could be modified to change the image size.

Re: User Pic in Login Screen

Oups, sorry about that.
logonui has been modified under Vista, so there must be somewhere a dll and/or a xml file which specifies the size of it but i never searched

Re: User Pic in Login Screen

I went digging a bit in my system32 folder and was taking a look at authui.dll. I looked through that file and found some UserTile entries in there, but I unfortunately don't know about that very much. I ended up changing some width and height values for some UserTile entries there, but it did not go so nicely and after a restart, it wouldn't load that dll therefore locking me out because there was no login window. Since I was expecting something to go wrong, I was prepared for the worst and everything's fine. If someone has time to go Vista exploring, that would be great so we could figure this out. If interested, I was looking in authui.dll\UIFILE\11000

BTW - Off topic, I've noticed that over the past week my name's been changing colors. I was a Vista Pro user, and now I'm a purplish-pink Power User lol. Is that changing because of my reputation? Or is it a rank that admins/mods have given me?

Thanks

Re: User Pic in Login Screen

Spd2Last,

It's a new ranking system based on the member's reputation points.

Re: User Pic in Login Screen

Thanks for link Brink, but I'm still a little confused. I only have 290 reputation points and a couple of days ago I was a Vista Pro, but then recently, it was changed to Power User. In that post, it says you reach Power User rank at 400 rep points...
