| Vista home premuim 32bit | temp folders Are there any temp folders in vista?? I am use to cleaning out 6 temp folders in XP about every 7 - 10 days. Search shows up nothing. If there is none it means one less cleaning to do each week. |

| XP-Pro-SP3-32bit, Vista Ultimate-64bit | Re: temp folders I don't know exactly what you are calling temp folders because there are many more JUNK folders in Vista than there were in XP, which had a ton more than 98 or ME. I wrote a batch file to dump all the junk folders in my Vista PC and it's about thirty lines long, with one folder per line. Yes, "Disk Cleanup" does a pretty good job of getting rid of junk files, but it doesn't get rig of them all. In my own cleanup batch file, I included things like my AV Quarantine folder and the Prefetch folder. There will be a separate set of temp folders for each user. On a recent cleanup of a customers PC, I removed over 30,000 junk files with my little XPCleanup.bat program. Then ran Spybot S&D and got rid of 176 pieces of spyware. Keeping a PC clean and safe isn't the easiest thing in the world, but it's definitely DO'able. Shadow |

| XP-Pro-SP3-32bit, Vista Ultimate-64bit | Re: temp folders Thank You, that was a very good tutorial. It's also information that's been around for a while on other forums. So, it's not new, but always worth repeating.....thanks again. Just like NO security program can find and remove every piece of malware, NO cleanup program is going to get every piece of junk on your hard drive. I use my own VIClnup.bat program to remove selected junk files, then I run "Disk Cleanup" and then "Easy Cleaner 2" to remove "Unnecessary files". When I get done, my HD is about as clean as it can be. I always suggest to my customers, that they do a Weekly Maintenance routine that I give them. That will keep a person's hard drive clean, neat and running smoothly. Cheers mates! The Shadow |
