Disk Management never starts

New Member
I have a newly installed Vista64 Ultimate system. After clicking Disk Management in the Computer Management window the service never starts. Instead, the following launching information is displayed: Loading disk configuration information…..
Any idea what might cause this strange behavior.

There is a service called 'Virtual Disk'. This service is required when using the Disk Management console - it says in the status bar, 'Connecting to virtual disk service...', after which it says 'Loading disk configuration information...'.

You should check whether you have disabled this service (in Computer Management, go to Services). Look for 'Virtual Disk'. It should be set to Manual, at least.

Do you also have the Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and Plug and Play services set to Started and Automatic with the Virtual Disk set as Manual?

You also have to run Disk Management while logged on to an administrator account.

yep..
all started.. have a admin account.. just found out though that if i dont rightclick on computer and select manage to access the disk management
and just run mmc and add the plug in
i CAN access the disk stuff
