How important is x64 optimization?

Speaking from your experience with x64 OS and various programs, does it make a noticeable difference when it's running in 32bit mode or if it's running native?

It can be any kind of programs, instant messaging, playing games, firewalls, browsers... etc etc..

Oh I want to ask a specific question, Should I go with 32bit mode firefox, or minefield? Is the 64bit optimization worth it to deal with a beta program? or would 32bit mode firefox just be easier to use.

Honestly, *YES*.

The majority of it is optimized code - Firefox is a great example (although I don't use it myself because of lack of Flash for 64bit browsers currently) - get a 64bit version at Mozilla for Windows x64 platform and see the difference - or just read some of the info there.

well that sucks.. so no matter what browser I use, if I want to see flash, I have to use 32bit browser eh..

running a program in 32bit mode in 64bit doesn't make it SLOWER than running it in 32bit OS does it?

Not noticeably... especially with such a lightweight program such as a web browser.
