| Vista Home Premium 32-bit & Vista Ultimate 64-bit both Service Pack 2 W7 Pro RTM 7600 32 & 64 | Re: BIOS Password Hi subzero and welcome to the forums ![]() Refer to your manual and locate the small battery on the motherboard (usually type CR2032). Remove it and wait a few minutes before reinserting it, being careful to get the orientation correct. This should reset your BIOS to its defaults - you will have to reset the time and date and other configuration data, but it should also delete the password so that you can enter your BIOS without entering one. There might also be a jumper to enable you to reset the BIOS - again follow the instructions in your manual if there is one. Dwarf |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | Re: BIOS Password Barman58, that is a handy tip for laptops. I have had to reset bios for clients before and it is a pain in the butt. The only problem that all of these programs will face is a power on password. You need to type in the password as soon as the power is applied. Get that screwdriver out. |

| Windows 7 RC x64 Vista HP x86 | Re: BIOS Password hopefully manufacturers will not start adding power-on passwords. as you rightly say then its out with the screwdrivers and cursing the fixed price maintenance contract you agreed to |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | Re: BIOS Password My backup computer is a HP laptop I bought 2 years ago, guess what? It has a power on password facility. And yes I do use it. No maint contract for me. I downloaded the service manual. If something needs replacing I will do it myself. If it is worth it money wise. |
