Backup/Restore Problem - Please help

Hello all,

I recently suffered a had disk failure and therefore used the vista baskup utility to backup my complete hard drive. This morning, upon return of my repaired laptop I have restored the contents of the backup.

It seems to have copied everything over however I cannot access my program file. Although I can see the program files on my hard disk (such as word, photoshop, my antivirus and other freeware stuff that I have downloaded from the internet) I cannot actually run any of these programs. Am I doing something wrong or do i need to re-install all of the program files again manually.

Hello Rum, and welcome to Vista Forums.

The Backup Files option that you have for your Vista Home Premium edition does not do a complete PC (hard drive) backup. It only allows for a backup and restore of file types. Unless you used some other 3rd party backup program that came with your computer, this may be why you are having this problem. You will just need to reinstall all of the programs again.
