What is the best way to set up a laptop in

Ok I just got a laptop for the office. I am wondering what is the best way of set it up in a business environment and where employees can take the laptop offsite and have access to the files in the office and have access to their emails in outlook (after I sync it in the office).

I have vpn set up and have user profile set up as local instead of roaming. But I still get slow results like the internet being slow to load files not being able to be accessed.

Will having the laptop as a domain have an affect on its performance?
Should I have it as a workgroup?
Should I have separated username for the laptop like laptop00? instead of having the normal office username to keep from having sync issues?

This is the setup I use for our office environment

Laptop is on the domain. When a user logs on for the first time, their profile is cached so if they move out of the domain (say home) they can still use the laptop. When they are somewhere, such as home, they use the vpn to securely access the network and access emails and such (can get email without vpn regardless).

So far, no complaints as far as speed goes. In the end, the vpn servers are very fast, just depends on the connection they are using to access the vpn.
