WINMM.DLL Not found?

Hi,

I just built a new system and have a fresh copy of Vista Ultimate 64 installed. I've installed a few games and both games are giving 2 errors saying that "This application has failed to start because WINMM.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem". This pops up twice, and then the game starts and seems to work without any issues.

Any ideas?

I downloaded that file and put it in the SPORE directory. Now I get "The Procedure entry point SMapLS could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll". Is this because it's not a 32-bit version of winmm.dll?

Couldn't find the winmm.dll on the SPORE DVD.

Just FYI, other games (Flight Sim X, LORTO) are working fine.

Thanks!

Can anyone help - I am getting this as well with Crysis Warhead???

I'm getting the same thing in Vista x64. Running Crysis Warhead and WINMM.dll error, twice each time I start the game. And the Cysis wars locks up all the time. This is a fresh Vista install and my winmm.dll files are right where they should be. I'm seeing this problem more and more in the last week since the game came out.

I copied the .dll files from the System 32 into my System directory and now I am getting another issue!

Contacted EA Customer Support and SecureRom, both deny that they are causing an issue!

Bloody nightmare I tell you...

My Computer

My winmm.dll problem was caused by a driver conflict with the new Asus XonarD2 drivers, going back to the old drivers fixed the problem.
