Startup Repair error

When I run Startup Repair I get the message-
"Start up repair cannot repair this computer automatically"

When I run System Restore I get the message-
"To perform an offline System Restore, you must specify which windows installation you would like to restore..."

You haven't actually told us just what your problem is and why you've been trying to run those, perhaps if you did someone would be able to help.

Ok, sorry this was a continuatio from another post...

I was going along trying to fix check disk as per this forum:

I got through all of the steps ok but when i tried to reboot in safe mode i got the 'Windows Boot Manager' Screen and now i cant get past it. It says:

Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1. insert your windows installation disk and restart your computer
2.Choose your language settigns and then click next
3. Click 'repair your computer"

So I did that and then had the aforementioned problems...
