Vista - Cannot Restart

Hi guys,

Problem.

My PC will not restart. Windows will shut down, screen goes blank (but still powered) then nothing... Power is still on, No HDD activity, just sits there all day long! You have to manually press the reset button on the case.

Ive re-formatted with no luck.

Even exiting bios does the same!

I had a few problems yesterday when something went haywire and i lost registry keys to the point where windows would not load up in norma mode. no problems in safe mode though. So today i formatted and then i noticed this restart problem.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Have you try to reinstall Vista or restore it from safe mode? Before your do this made sure all connections are good and all cards are set.

Yes, ive re-installed Vista with no luck.

I also have a seperate HDD that has XP on it. Same thing occurs there too.

It will shut down normally, turn off but not restart

Sorry couldn't come up with anything for the problem except may be the simms which are not likely. Only thing left to check is the power supply which doesn't seem to be the cause either; other then that, I would try another mother board. Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Have you checked the manufactures website for a bios update.

That was my last resort
