Goodbye, and help!

Hello everyone.

I have decided to leave the forums because I will no longer be using Windows Vista. My MEDION laptop is going to be re-formatted, re-partitioned and under control of Windows XP. However to do this I will need some help. Could anyone tell me how to do this. I already have an idea of how its done but would like to know everyones reccomendations. NOTE: For no reason will I keep Windows Vista, so please do not sway my determination to use Windows XP! I will however, want to keep the Windows Vista recovery drive in case Windows XP doesn't work, because I have a recovery disk for the recovery drive partition.

Goodbye everybody.

P.S. (That still means I want someone to answer)

Hello Tristan,

You should be able to boot from the XP installation DVD and format the C: drive during the beginning of installation. Afterwards you should be able to proceed installing XP.

If you need more information, please just let us know.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

If you want to know why, here is my answer:

Well firstly, I still have the Windows Vista Home Premium installation disk and 2 partitions.

Anyway, I have had real trouble with compatibility with programs and games, my disk frive stopped working, I had trouble getting used to Vista's new ways and where everything is, and it was a bit slow. Sorry, but I still love Windows XP and want it again, I miss it.

If tristan-117 wants to go back to XP, that's OK. Vista can be challenge for some - it's easier, sometimes, to stick to what you know instead of investing time in learning something new.

At least tristan-117 tried it before going back - as most XP die-hards would slate Vista based on misinformation / ignorance / lack of hands on experience with Vista.

Your disk drives shouldn't 'stop working'...That sounds like a potential hardware or hard drive controller issue.

tristan get all the drivers from the manufacturers website before you do this as laptop os discs come with them, a normal xp install disc won't have those drivers for your network cards and so forth so make sure you grab them and put them to disc first.

and i think your nuts going back as most modern software and new software is being optimized for vista and support stops for xp soon as well i heard it was late next year but will probably change do make sure this is the right choice before you go ahead, if you are experiencing hardware issues i would contact the supplier as going to xp will not solve those problems.

good luck whatever your choice is.
