I get the same message with Windows Media Player and Sidebar.

The only thing that seems to work ok is Firefox.

I've also tried seen other posts but found no solution.

Please help before i go back to XP :(

Hello Handaman, and welcome to Vista Forums.

It sounds like your installation of Vista was corrupted. Try doing another clean reinstall of Vista to see if it will run properly for you afterwards.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

I completely agree with the above assessment. It does sound like something bad happened during the install process. Maybe the installer missed or failed to copy some critical files that applications utilize.

I'd get right on that re-install, and it should resolve all the issues your experiencing.

Is it safe to assume you haven't added new hardware as well? Simply a software upgrade / re-install?

Thanks for the replies.

I added new hardware before I did the installation of VUx64.

I will try to do a new install again this evening.

Something with asus boards that helps is updating the bios, you might wanna try that before a complete reinstall. And if you don't have a floppy disc use a flash drive that is the method I update my bios with and it works great!

So remember update your bios it can and does help with a lot of errors.
