Why aren't my windows remembering how I sized them?

I'm getting really annoyed that I have to keep resizing my windows. It's especially apparent with my control panel window which gets used more than most. I've been using windows since 3.1 and NEVER had this issue. Did Microsoft decide to make this resource cow, which is a pain to use, and then decide to remove the ability to remember window sizes just to spite us or are they just plain stupid?

So far I give Vista a 3 out of 100! Yet another version of windows dumbed down for the American people.

I do appreciate the response Flavius. Although that answer is unacceptable, if Microsoft, or anyone else with half a brain, doesn't see how ridiculous it is to have to edit your registry for every single window you ever have used or will use just to get it to stay the size you like (something that was automatic as far back as Windows 3.1 and in every version since till now) then I guess it's time to ditch that Microsft stock cuz obviously it won't be going up. It's like building a newest most advance model of a car and forgetting a starter so it has to be hand cranked.
