| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: page file help!! No, it doesn't look right, but not the page file size. Why isn't the installed physical memory the same as the total physical memory? On my system property sheet they're the same, 4GB. My total virtual memory is 8.2GB, ~ double my RAM, which is the same I see on yours, 17.5. |

| ultimate 64 SP1 | Re: page file help!! LOL.... i never even noticed that!! strange, every app i have states 8gb as does the BIOS ![]() but is the general consensus 2x the RAM = total page file. i don't understand it really SK |

| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Re: page file help!! The Vista page file is dynamic, so it is whatever it is at any given time. Since it works pretty good, and since you've got 8GB's of RAM, it's not something I would concern myself with. Get back to work on BareFoot. |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | Re: page file help!! Hi Skunksmash, I would leave the Virtual Memory Paging file set as the default System managed. Vista does a great job of managing this. ![]() I did notice something strange in your System Information image. It says you have 8 GB of installed physical memory, yet it says you only have 4 GB of total physical memory. These should be the same. Are you running Virtual PC? |

| Vista Home Premium x64 SP1 | Re: page file help!! It's probably a bug in System Information on systems with over 4GB of RAM. Everything else recognizes the full 8GB, so there's nothing to worry about. And yes, Vista's automatic Page File Space appears to be about the same as Installed Physical Memory. I've got 4GB installed and my Page File Space is 4.04GB. Total Virtual Memory is (or should be) equal to Installed Physical Memory plus Page File Space. |
